Montana’s Medical Marijuana Program is operated by the Department of Health and Human Services. There are no specific state tracking systems for Montana.

Medical: Yes

Recreational: No

The state of Montana has provider licenses that allow licensees to grow cannabis and sell it to their patients. The providers/caregivers that have built a big patient base open dispensaries but there is no legal difference between a provider and a dispensary.

Providers are limited to 12 seedlings (<12”), 4 mature flowering plants, and 1 ounce of usable marijuana in possession per approved registered cardholder.

Processor licenses allow licensees to purchase marijuana from a grower and extract resin from the marijuana or create a marijuana-infused product for sale and transfer in packaged form to a retail store.
